Help Shady

shady-april-martines

Shady is a 6 year old kitty whom is in need of urgent Veterinary help.  If he does not have surgery soon, he will probably die. However, surgery CAN help Shady.  His “owners” have already spent a fortune on a first operation to save his Life but all that is standing in the way now of operating in order to fix Shady so he can resume a normal life, is the green stuff.

If you can DONATE a dollar or five dollars or whatever amount you can, or know someone who can, please do so now by clicking on the Link above.  Seriously, is there even one person out there who is reading this, and will HELP where it counts ??

Shady’s “owners” have already taken out Loans so there’s no need to tell them to get some credit or Loans.  If you have hundreds of dollars or a thousand that is surplus, consider dontaing it to saving an innocent life.  Yes you can donate it to another cause, but if you really feel COMPELLED to help save this sweet little SIX YEAR old cat ( not very old ) …… your doing so  NOW  will be so very much appreciated by beautiful Shady !

A Dog’s Purpose – BOYCOTT Animal Movies

“He wants to get away, just throw him in”

For god’s sake, don’t we already have enough Movies about animals, especially about our so-called “pets” – dogs and cats?   I don’t watch movies with Animals in them usually because even though the American Humane Society or similar is supposed to monitor the filming for animal cruelty, well, isn’t animal cruelty like “beauty” in the eye of the human beholder?

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/upcoming-movies/animal-cruelty-disturbing-leaked-video-from-film-set-horrifies-viewers/news-story/98be114add016b7fbf312875226ab791

It is artificial and taste-less to me forcing animals into raging waters or similar scenarios, because that is what the human film-makers ARE doing.  They do not nicely “ask” the animal to go into the artificial water or to plunge off a waterfall somehow ( like pointing invitingly to the water or calling them invitingly into raging waters, or talking to them telepathically ) to which the dog happily obeys –  do they??

Take “Milo and Otis” for example.  Disgusting treatment of live aware / sentient beings.

How many kittens, cats and dogs were maimed or killed during the making of this Japanese made movie, which had NO monitoring of its treatment of animals??  Do your own research, and watch the movie and if you have a brain, you will see the abuse suffered by animals in this movie.

So what, many people cry.  They are only dumb animals.  We human beings have the right to control animals.  The animals in Movies are well treated ( apart from being thrown off a waterfall, or being put in front of a viper snake which has had its fangs removed – though the cat doesn’t know that ).   They will get over it, it doesn’t cause long term harm.

Well, how do you know what the effects are??

Human beings are also Animals.  Non-human animals behave alot better than many Homo sapiens, if you ask me.  Non-human animals are loyal, don’t ask for much, they are honest, yes they compete in the wild for resources ( food and relationships with other animals ) and may seem to some exhibit un-tasteful behaviour,  BUT it is according to their Universal Laws to survive; while human beings let themselves become lazier and stupider even with the promise of technology ( too easy to use computers for long distance and in-personal communication ), and try to make money from exploiting animals.

Well, I for one, don’t want new made up movies so called about the wonderful animal world.  If I want to relate to an animal, I will go and find one in its natural setting ( or watch an ethically made Documentary ).   Join me in NOT going to see “A Dog’s Purpose” or any other movie with animal “stars”.    The links below are the reference for this post.

UPDATE

The premiere of the movie touted to celebrate the relationship between Homo sapien and Canine animals ( ironic ) has been cancelled.  No dogs were killed or maimed in the making of this movie, yes, but how would you a Human Being, like being forced to do something you are terrified of, especially when the reason for it is not justified ???

Easter reminder – look after your Pets

At this time of love and renewal, let us remember our connection & dependence upon our animal companions and the “Animal Kingdom”.   NO Bunnies for Easter unless you love rabbits  AND  are completely prepared to look after them.  NO CUTE KITTENS or PUPPIES either, ever, unless also you know you will be committed to look after them.  All Animals are Souls in animal form, including  US human beings!   We are the species Homo sapiens, a member of the animal kingdom.

Thank you to the non-human animals for your care and love of us, and for your service ( some of it not done willingly or to the animal’s liking or preference ).  I only wish Homo sapiens could be more like non-human Animals –  intuitive, intelligent, loyal, willing to take on others burdens, able to cheer others with a simple action, knowing what they want, getting what they want, and loving ….. right until the end.

Look,  Don’t  touch,  or  BUY  or  TAKE,  unless you can  LOOK AFTER US FOREVER

BE   RESPONSIBLE  –    NEUTER   YOUR  PET  –   DON’T  DUMP ANIMALS

Sea-lions Starving – please Help

SeaLions_KevinSchafer_lg

California sea lion (Zalophus californianus)

Monterey Bay, California, USA
by Kevin Schafer, Seattle, Washington, USA

Jenna Ushkowitz was recently filming on a free-diving trip with Oceana at Santa Barbara Island off of Southern California.

She says:

At our dive spot, we saw cliffs known for being covered in sea lions. They were barren.

While I was in the water, a young sea lion pup came up to our boat. It was so skinny. You could see its ribs. It was truly heart breaking.

That starving pup was an undeniable example of the problems sea lions and other ocean animals face – there’s simply not enough forage fish to go around.

Excessive fishing and a combination of ocean conditions have driven down sardine and anchovy populations to such low numbers that sea lion mothers can’t find these fish. With support from the public, Oceana took action and helped win a short-term solution: closing the Pacific sardine fishery last April through next June.

But more sea lion pups will starve if we don’t find a long-term solution.

The United States fishes the same population of Pacific sardines as Mexico and Canada, yet the sardine catch limits do not accurately account for this fact. We must update this calculation to ensure we harvest a responsible share of fish and don’t contribute to international overfishing.

I subscribe to OCEANA’s Newsletters.  Oceana is an excellent organisation that helps marine life worldwide.  Please help them to help our wildlife.

Add your name before October 14 to help save thousands of sea lion pups and restore the abundance of our oceans >>

Thank you

Australian government on “probation” – to save the Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef In June 2015 the UNESCO World Heritage Committee made a historic decision for the Great Barrier Reef that put the Australian government on probation until the Reef’s health improves.  The Australian Government now has until 2016 to show that its rescue plan is working and until 2019 to demonstrate it has stopped the decline of the Reef. The most significant features of the decision are:

  • The World Heritage Committee expressed concern that the outlook for the Reef is poor and key habitats and species have continued to decline, and listed climate change, poor water quality, and coastal development impacts as the major threats.
  • The Committee will continue its vital role as a watchdog to ensure Australia “rigorously implements all of its commitments”.
  • An acknowledgement that the existing financial commitment to the Reef 2050 plan is an ‘initial’ amount – a clear indication the Committee recognizes that the plan is underfunded.
  • If the Reef’s World Heritage values continue to decline, then an ‘in-danger’ listing will almost certainly be delivered at the 2020 meeting.

Just 12 months ago, the Australian Government had approved plans to dump millions of tonnes of dredge spoil from mega-port expansions into the Great Barrier Reef’s waters. On 1st July, that approval was overturned and WWF expects a ban on dumping from new port development in the Reef’s World Heritage waters to be in force within months. Read more   HERE turtle_Great_Barrier_ReefThe Great Barrier Reef (GBR) stretches 2,300 kilometres along the Queensland coast and includes over 2,900 reefs, and around 940 islands and cays. The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is 345,000 square kilometres in size, five times the size of Tasmania or larger that the United Kingdom and Ireland combined! The reef is immensely diverse. It is home to more than 1,500 species of fish, 411 types of hard coral, one-third of the world’s soft corals, 134 species of sharks and rays, six of the world’s seven species of threatened marine turtles, and more than 30 species of marine mammals, including the vulnerable dugong. Add to that stunning marine suite as many as 3,000 molluscs and thousands of different sponges, worms and crustaceans, 630 species of echinoderms (starfish and sea urchins) and 215 bird species, of which 22 are seabirds. The GBR is listed under all four natural World Heritage criteria for its outstanding universal value.

FREEWAY – Young American Curl Cat Rescue

Nobody knows how this poor 2 year old American Curl ginger cat got stuck on a Freeway in Arizona, with burns to his paw pads and a bleeding mouth and paws ( some Reports say he got burned by a car engine ) but thanks to Richard Christianson, he was rescued – and now he is okay and has been adopted by his rescuer, and named Freeway.

https://www.facebook.com/TheRealMCMagic/videos/923138421042437/

The 15 second video above shows this kitty clinging for his life to a wire fence.  He will need alot of tender love and care, after going through such an experience.  A news report states that Christianson already has 4 dogs and 3 cats.  Freeway the cat is featured on two Facebook pages, one of them is Richard Christianson’s page, if you want to see how he is faring.

Freeway_catSadly, with the publicity & the nature of social media, the “trolls” come also.  Although anyone with a brain and eyes can see that the Video is authentic and that this cat would very likely have been killed if Richard had not rescued him, someone has been nasty to Richard on his Facebook page, saying it was a scam and he is just trying to make money from this.

Yes, someone else set up a Funding page to get some contributions toward paying for Freeway’s substantial veterinary bills, and via that webpage, Richard stated the excess was going to organizations helping animals.

Please post messages of support for Richard on his FB page ( 2nd link below ) if you feel so inclined.

Beautiful Cats & Beautiful People – true story of Niko

Niko the cat

Here is a story that will truly “warm your cockles” if that means it will make you feel warm & fuzzy, and glad that there are people around who care about lost and abandoned animals.  It began in November 2011 when a tiny kitten in a terrible state of health was found and taken care of by a loving man.  The kitten’s first six months with her foster parents were videoed so that she could be transferred to a good home once she had recovered, though at times, her human adopters worried that she would not recover ..

Click on “Full Screen” to watch full screen, or click on “You Tube” to watch it directly on You Tube.

Warning:  video shows how bad the kitten’s eyes were with conjunctivitis, at which you can just turn your face away or close your eyes, but please do continue watching the Video after that.

Now, here is a Follow-up Video, recorded 12 months later, and even though it is in Japanese, anyone with a brain can see what the outcome is …..

Made my heart melt and my eyes tear up –  this story has “made my day.”   May Niko live a long, happy & healthy life.

UPDATE Australia takes Japan to International Court to save Minke Whales

NEWS FLASH 1 APRIL 2014

JAPAN ORDERED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP WHALING !!!!!

ABC explains here – please read

humpback460

From   Whales Alive   –   21 June 2013

The case against Japan’s whaling program being heard at the    International court of Justice   (ICJ) begins at The Hague on Wednesday June 26th.

“Japan will be severely embarrassed by being dragged to this international court” says Mick McIntyre,  Executive Director of Australian based whale conservation group Whales Alive. McIntyre  will be attending the court case as an observer.

The case against Japan has been brought  by the Australian Government who will argue that  Japan’s  whaling program in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary breaches international law .

“We all know that Japan’s so called scientific whaling program is a sham and finally we have the law on our side” says McIntyre.

“We expect the judges of the ICJ to agree with the Australian Government that Japan’s whaling contravenes international law.”

“This case against Japan is a once in a generation opportunity to stop this barbaric whaling, which is outdated, inherently cruel and for products that nobody needs.”
